Fixed prices only
Why it matters
Auctions create anxiety and exclude buyers who just want cards, not competition. When the price is the price, the only question is whether you want it - not whether you can win it.
Here's why PlayerLots exists, who it's for, and the three constraints we chose on purpose.
I started PlayerLots because I wanted my two kids to fall in love with collecting cards - not learn how to gamble.
Breaks are loud and built on chance. You pay for a slot, watch a stream, and hope the right cards land. Big marketplaces are built for everything - bid wars, counter-offers, and endless listings to dig through. Neither felt right for the kind of collecting I wanted to share with my kids.
I wanted a place where a $20 lot of inserts and parallels could feel like a real find. Where the cards in the photo are the cards in the envelope. Where the price is the price - no counter-offers, no last-second snipers, no mystery shipping cost at checkout.
So I built PlayerLots. Fixed prices. Every card photographed. Standardized shipping. Sellers keep 91-92% of the sale. Baseball only during beta, so we can keep the focus tight.
Then we made it one platform. The free Checklist Binder tracks the insert sets you're building, shows every card you're missing, and alerts you when one is listed. And when a card outgrows your collection, you sell it straight from the binder - no listing to write from scratch, no auction to babysit.
These aren't limitations - they're the point. Each one exists because we saw what happens when marketplaces leave them out.

Why it matters
"Similar to" photos and stock imagery shift the risk onto buyers. If you're spending money, you should see exactly what's going into the envelope before you pay.
Why it matters
Large marketplaces are built for everything, and singles get buried there. Player lots give sellers a clean way to thin collections and buyers a way to actually build a PC without hunting forever.
A short list of the people PlayerLots was designed around. If you recognize yourself, you'll feel at home here.
Collectors chasing cards of their guy who don't want to dig through endless listings to find them.
Collectors offloading inventory who want a simple way to sell without researching comps or timing auctions.
Buyers who want to see the exact cards they're getting before they pay a single cent.
Parents introducing kids to collecting without the gambling mechanics baked into breaks.
